Meet Our Physicians

Daylene Ripley, MD is a gynecologic oncologist. Gynecologic oncologists are initially trained as OB/GYNs and then undergo fellowship training to gain expertise in the biology and pathology of gynecologic cancers and effective forms of treatment, including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and experimental treatments.

Dr. Ripley is a Gynecologic Oncologist, specializing in the care of women with gynecologic cancers.

Dr. Ripley is Board certified in gynecologic oncology and obstetrics and gynecology. She completed Residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas at Houston and fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Prior to that she completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Washington a medical degree at the Chicago Medical School.

She has served on the faculty at the University of Florida for over 8 years as Associate Professor. She was actively involved in research and resident student training.

Dr. Ripley's current practice aims to deliver quality care to women with gynecologic malignancies, including endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancers. Her areas of interest also include pre-invasive diseases, laparoscopic surgery and complicated gynecology.

Dr. Ripley has authored and co-authored many publications and presentations.




Elaine Zapata, MSN, ARNP

Elaine Zapata, MSN, ARNP, is an American Nurses Credentialing Center Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Elaine Zapata received her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Florida.

Elaine has joined Gainesville GYN Oncology and brings with her more than 10 years experience. Prior to joining Gainesville GYN Oncology, she was a member of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Shands at the University of Florida and provided care for hematology and oncology patients at Florida Cancer Specialists. Elaine is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association, Florida Nurses Association and the Oncology Nursing Society.

As a part of Gainesville GYN Oncology, Elaine is dedicated to delivering quality care to women with gynecologic malignancies, including endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancers.
